About Troy

Troy was born and raised in Kentucky. Art has always been a passion. Troy first started drawing in grade school and had won several contests over the years. It was suggested that he make it a career choice. After serving in the U.S. Army, he came back home to his family roots in Kentucky.

Troy's greatest inspiration for art was Robert Bateman. He enjoyed his art and he took it a step further. Troy first started woodcarving by completing gunstocks for members of the family and co-workers and friends. Then he decided to start creating larger relief carvings.

The Glade Creek Mill started out as an experiment, his grandfather was one of the original workers on the construction of the Mill.

I hope you take the time and review his work and appreciate the time and effort it takes to create a one-of-a-kind carving. I know my husband has a wonderful gift from God, the talent that it takes to make these carvings is just that, a gift. I hope you can appreciate his work as much as I do.

Why I am a Woodcarver - by Troy Jones

Woodcarving for the most is a very hard career choice, but I enjoy the challenge.

It takes alot of time, dedication, motivation, and skill to do a high quality carving, but I do it because as an artist I can draw whatever I want and then put that into wood. It gives me a sense of freedom to create something that is one of a kind and that I have never seen before and that is unique. I am a detail oriented person, and the more detail that is wanted the more exciting the project becomes.

The things that matter most in my life is my Salvation, my marriage and my family. My wife and my children support me all the way, as well as my parents, so I have a huge support base which means so much to me!!
